Training and Background
Dr. Beach has extensive training from a variety of highly respected institutions. After completing high school in San Antonio, he received a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Texas Tech University. During this time, he served in the Army Reserves and was deployed during operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Bosnia. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked as a psychiatric technician at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas and then Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. There he learned a great deal about how to work with children and adolescents. His interest in families and other systems and their impact on individuals, led him back to Texas Tech to pursue a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. During his Master’s degree and doctoral programs, Dr. Beach gained invaluable experience leading groups from large corporations through challenges that helped build their teamwork and communications. These experiences and his understanding of human relations prove valuable when he leads workshops or gives talks to groups from school districts, construction companies and other organizations. Following his Master degree, he completed a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Houston. While completing his degree, he worked at Texas Children’s Hospital and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in the department of pediatrics. Dr. Beach’s Doctoral Thesis studied the connection between various subtypes of A.D.H.D. and self-concept in children.
Following the completion of his doctoral degree, Dr. Beach received a commission in the U.S. Air Force and completed a residency in clinical psychology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. He completed his military commitment as a psychologist at Tinker Air Force Base near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he worked primarily with active duty adults in a military medical center. Following his Air Force duty, he took the opportunity to return to his true passion, helping children and adolescents and their families, taking a position at Southwest Mental Health Center (now called Clarity Child Guidance Center). Dr. Beach felt led to branch off into private practice in 2007. He shares an office with Rebecca Easley, LPC in the beautiful and serene Bulverde community. He continues to expand his practice by becoming a certified certified professional coach and a sport and performance psychologist.
